Yoga Teacher Training Course (TTC)

The number one complaint we’ve heard from recent graduates of other Yoga Teacher Training Courses is the lack of adjustment training. Head teacher, Pankaj Seth, has crafted his own unique techniques for hands-on adjustments after 16 years of teaching experience. Pankaj has competed in many yoga championships and was received the Championship Title from the Varanasi competitions in 2003 and 2006. Program Highlights:

Hatha Yoga World believes yoga is for everyone. You will be welcomed into a safe, supportive space where we only ask that you engage yourself in the present moment with an open heart. You don’t have to touch your toes to do yoga! Yoga is the integration of mind, body, and spirit. Our course is designed to foster transformation and growth within you and around you. Much of the curriculum derives from Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, which lays out a system approach to move toward greater physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being (and eventually enlightenment).

Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras

Known as the father of yoga, Patanjali wrote his famous collection of aphorisms, known collectively as the Yoga Sutras, roughly 2600 years ago. The 196 sutras (verses) are divided into four chapters. The first chapter describes yoga and the nature and means to achieve Samadhi. In the second chapter, Patanjali describes Kriya Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga (8 limbs). The third chapter focuses on siddhis, or supernatural powers. The final chapter describes the process of liberation and the reality of the transcended ego.

Patanjali laid a detailed path to enlightenment, known as the eight-limbed path or Ashtanga Yoga. Due to the popularity of the Astanga style (Mysore) of Hatha Yoga, this journey may also be referred to as Raja Yoga.

A Brief Description of the Eight Limbs of Yoga

The First Limb: The Five Yamas (Social and worldly interactions)

The Second Limb: The Five Niyamas (Personal observations)

The Third Limb: Asana (physical postures)
The Fourth Limb: Pranayama (breathing to integrate body and mind)
The Fifth Limb: Pratyahara (withdraw of the senses)
The Sixth Limb: Dharana (concentration)
The Seventh Limb: Dhyana (meditation)
The Eighth Limb: Samadhi (blissful awareness)

At Hatha Yoga World, we encourage students to put theory into practice. To help engage students in philosophy, we combine lecture and readings with group discussion and movie screenings.
